   Valving DataBase

The Valving DataBase is a collection of stock and modified valve stacks for dirt bikes.

Modified valve stacks are available for purchase.    [details]

ONE THING !!  We don’t want riders giving out the specific valve stacks in discussion forms.
You can use the valve stacks as you like, we just don’t want them posted online.

When you purchase a modified valve stack, we work with you to fine tune the bike.  After riding, call or email your feedback and we will assist in dialing in the bikes suspension.  If needed, we will supplying additional valve stacks based on your input.  All valve stacks used are dyno tested, thus telling us exactly what the valving changes are doing.

Combining years of experience with a state of the art suspension dyno has aided in our quest to develope a new methodology in long travel suspension tuning.  This new methodology is detailed in the Suspension Info section, but here is a quick rundown.

  • Basically we tune the fork or shocks damping curve based on the dyno numbers. After test riding the bike, we determine what part of the damping curve we want to change. Then we go into the damper and start making valving changes, dyno testing each new stack, until we arrive at the desired force numbers.
  • Sometimes this may require several dyno runs. We keep track of each of these runs and record how the various shim changes affected the damping curve and catalogue this information for future reference. That way we can refer back to one of these stacks at some point in the future (if it has the numbers we’re looking for).   These dyno tests are listed in the Dyno Series section.
    [example:  Dyno Tests > Honda]

we decided this is in-house info and not available to others

We have forks and shocks for several late model dirt bikes that we use specifically for dyno testing. That way, you don’t have to send in your fork and shock each time a dyno test is needed.

Here is an example of how it works.  We can provide a recommended starting stack, or start with yours.  Either way, the valve stacks would be dynod and analyzed before starting.  After getting rider feedback, we would decide what part of the damping curve to adjust.  As outlined above, we take one of our shop shocks and dyno test new valve stacks until we come up with the desired numbers.  You would install the new stack in the bike and get more rider feedback.  Then the process repeats itself until you are satisified with the bikes performance.  Using this method, you will soon begin to see how easy it is to tune the bike when you know exactly what the valving changes are doing.

Valving DataBase   (milan verbage ???)

An innovative solution to file, compare and analyze your suspension data.

Valving Database helps you organize and compare all your settings and notes. Rather than writing it down in a paper notebook Valving Database allows you to:

- Submit valving information such as stock specs, custom specs, test specs and analysis information like leverage ratios, dyno specs and shim program data.

- View and edit your settings at anytime. Choose the model bike you want to view using our simple search engine that files all information by year, make and model. Custom settings can be organized by multiple groups allowing you to organize your settings for specific type riders and/or application.

- Compare any notes with an easy side-by-side view allowing you to examine what information you have stored and give you an accurate foundation to base results and future settings.

- Analysis, Input leverage ratio, Dyno and shim deflection information allowing to view and compare what stock and/or your settings are doing.

- Customers information can also be stored in the database allowing you to have complete knowledge of what settings you are currently running in customers bike.

- Tools, Several useful tools and calculators are also included to help you analyses information like leverage ratio's, wheel force, spring rates, shim deflections and more..

Knowledge is power. Put all your knowledge to power by organizing it in one useful place !!

The Valving DataBase is a collection of stock and modified valve stacks for motorcycles and ATV's. The stacks come from a variety of sources:

    • We dyno 'stock' valve stacks to be used as a basis for comparisons.
    • There are currently three shops involved in the collaborative aspect of the Valving DataBase.  We dyno test all our decent working mod stacks and make them available in the Dyno Tests section of the database.  These stacks are available for purchase.    [details]
    • Riders and tuners can also request dyno runs on their valving configurations.
      • Either send us your damper, or we can put your valving in one of our shop shocks (or forks) and do a series of dyno runs.   [details]
        • Your dyno results are put in the database where you can use the database features to compare and analyze your stacks.
        • For those not interested in collaborating, we offer complete confidentiality on all valve stacks submitted for dyno testin
