Summary
On the previous pages there were many references to the force-velocity curve from the dyno. But, not everyone has a dyno. Does this make this information useless to all but those with dynos? Quite simply, the answer is NO, this info can be used by all.
- The dyno is needed to quantify the valving changes and determine what areas of the damping curve they affect.
- Once enough information has been gathered, it will become apparent that specific shim changes affect specific areas of the curve.
- After these generalizations have been made, a dyno is not specifically needed for tuners to make fairly accurate valving changes that target specific areas of the damping curve.
End of Valving 101 Series
- Valving 201 will deal with pressure.
- Internal pressure from both the main piston and compression adjuster piston.
- Pressure drops.
- Pressure balancing.
- etc.
